Fabric Fabric Fabric

It has come to my attention, slowly but surely throughout this year, that maybe, just maybe, I have a slight addiction to F A B R I C ! I know, I know, all my friends could have told me that 5 years ago, but I am slowly but surely facing up to facts. I wasn't planning on any new purchases last weekend, but just happened to be driving past Ballarat Patchwork, and this is what came home with me. Just love those umbrellas.
This is a quilt that has been waiting in the wings for a little while now.
I may have blogged it before
. . . but I have delivered the goods to my cousin Beth, for her 30th birthday
snuggle well and love

It's coming . . .

Spring is definitely coming. My Herronswood Pink Echium, is in full flower, and it's magnificent. Almost covering my tank this year.

Thought it was about time I had a bit of "scraps" clean out, so inspired by the Around the Block girls, I tried my hand at spiderweb blocks for the first time. I was surprised just how easy they were.
I will make this up into a table runner for my Market Stall next month.

Their last "Hurrah" before heading into the compost bin . . . I'd had them in a vase, and even as they dried out, they still looked beautiful.

Nearing Completion

In the post last week I received a lovely surprise post from Daisy Chain, which was a delight.
Thanks Daisy!

This quilt has been a labour of love. The reason it has come together so quickly, is that I just had so much fun making it.
The photos don't seem to do it the justice it deserves with the artificial light, but I tried to hang it on the line and it was just too big.

Now I'm working on piecing the back.

FISKARS - Spring & Pruning

With Spring just on our doorstep, it has been a busy time in the garden, despite the inclement weather. Lots of jobs to do, and when "Mr Fiskars" offered to help me out with some of their latest products, I was happy to oblige.
They asked me if I'd like to test run some equipment and review it. Just the name FISKARS is exciting to me. I LOVE their secateurs and in the sewing room, their scissors are fantastic, but now was my turn with some long armed pruning gear.
I could hardly wait to use it when I got it home, and out into the garden I went, just for a minute, I said to myself to see how it worked. Well, a minute turned into 5, then 10, and so on, as I was industriously clipping away with the greatest of ease. You see, with these pruners, you don't have any scissor action at all. The cutting bit is on a long pole, and you simply pull a movable part of the pole towards you which activates the cutting. Very ergonomic! It's called an Easy Reach Pruning Wand, and I was able to prune my fruit trees from just standing on the ground, using very minimal force, in fact none!!!! They are FANTASTIC!!!!

Mr Fiskars also sent me 2 sprayer bottles, one garden sprayer and a Heavy Duty Industrial Sprayer. I would certainly recommend these FISKARS products and be happy to try any others. I will get those sprayers working next weekend, but have kept the long arm pruning wand in the laundry, just incase I see anything that needs a little chip chop during the week.

Thank you Mr Fiskars!

Thumbs UP for 15

WOW! Hard to believe I've survived for 15 years!
He was pretty happy with a triple decker chocolate cake.
Around the Block has expired. I've finished the last 2. Pretty happy with the results and looking forward to seeing this one in the Princess room at Sewjourn.

I loved the idea of this one where we had to put a different piece of fabric
in one of the points of the star, to make them all individual.

. . . and I have begun working on my Around the Block blocks, circles was my theme.
Boardered them all, and now playing with a design.
. . . tricky stuff, as they are all different colours.

Everybody LOVES a baby

. . . and when one moves in just around the corner, I can't help myself
surely a baby can't have too many blankies?

A tiny bit of sunshine this morning so I went out and found this beauty
