What a difference a DAY makes . . .

Yesterday I noticed my Tiger Lilly buds had turned orange, so I snuck inside for my camera to catch them like this . . . then . . .
today when I went out for my garden inspection first thing in the morning . . .
I am so excited with them - such beautiful flowers
The only thing is, we're heading off in our caravan tomorrow for a few days, so I'll have to tell my neighbour to come over and enjoy them. Glad I caught a peek.
Love in the Mist is always special, at every stage. I have a huge clump of dried seed pods in the front yard, and am enjoying them just as much.
Another little glimpse of Tassie through the trees.
This beautiful OLD tree was at the Botanic Gardens
Just amazing!
. . . and just a little bit of quilting.
I recovered an old cushion with some favourite fabric for my travel pillow.
It was nice to cuddle when I was away from home and my Pussy Cats!

Holidays

This is Molly
I've been to Tasmania to visit her and my lovely neighbours
(that used to be so close, just over the road - and now over Bass Straight)
I went to the Botanic Gardens in Hobart which were magnificent

. . . and of course a little holiday crafting

Trying something new

It's too wet here today for gardening, but I wanted to capture the tiger lilly buds before they opened. Can you just see them there. I will show you again when they open. I think my slippers must have a crack in the bottom, as I now have wet socks!
Not that I'm complaining - thinking of all those people in QLD. They'll have more than wet socks. I can't imagine, but am locked into the news.
This is the view out my new back glass door today.
Last week I got this panel from Ballarat Patchwork.
I didn't know quite what to do, but after a visit from a friend the other day, she convinced me to step out of my comfort zone and try something new.
I have been experimenting with all my "fancy" stitches on my sewing machine and changing the length and width, and then doing some machine applique.
A bit of fun really - not sure what it's going to be yet, but I'll keep you posted.

Finished Quilts 2010

Posted by Picasa
A summary of quilts
from 2010
I have a few others that are not quite finished, so they will go onto the 2011 audit!

I think it's important to record them, as when I look into the conglomeration of mess in my sewing room, I sometimes feel despondent and think to myself:
"what am I doing? - what have I achieved?"

I go from sewing, to gardening, to washing to paperwork, and school of course, and often wonder what it's all about.

A year has passed and a fresh one starting.

2011 - Bring it on!

I'd like to introduce you . . .

2 new bloggers have entered our world and I'd like to introduce you.
Firstly to my sister Jayne. Her blog is called JB Flowers & Veg
. . . and next is my friend Lindy, whose blog is called Lindy Make it or Bake it.
Go on over and give these 2 a good old fashioned "bloggy welcome"
I'm sure they'd appreciate it

btw - my poppies have all finished for the year now, but how I love the seed pods!

My new Summer bag

Posted by Picasa
Thanks to Nicole Mallalieu, I feel very clever each time I make my new seasons bag. I happened to miss Spring Time, and have been using my Winter Bag (another Nikki Pattern) which I loved, but the time was right to make a new one.
This pattern was a one star "easy peasy" one, and I am really happy with the professional look and finish of it.
Thanks Nikki for all the great tips and techniques that have helped improve my sewing skills.

I was late today to a "craftanoon" picnic, as I just HAD to put the handle on to take it for show and tell.

A couple more quilts

This one I made at Sewjourn, and gave it to Miss Flowergarden for Christmas. She couldn't believe how she hadn't seen me making it, so it was a good surprise.
I gave this one to my cousin for a house warming present.
I didn't quite get my last one quilted but I'm going to include it in my round up. I'll work on that tomorrow.

Let the Sun Shine In

Ages ago we had a brilliant idea. To change the laundry door to a full glass door. I have been unable to see out into my back garden from inside the house.
The light it has let in, and the happiness it has brought to my heart is just wonderful. I feel like my garden is now part on the inside and I keep thinking I've left the door open.
I love it, love it,love it!!!!!
Max thinks it's pretty good too!
